You don't need multiple Steam accounts to play with family though. There's no official info about console crossplay yet, but that's less likely due to console restrictions. Is crossplay supported? All PC players can play together, whether they're on Linux/Mac/Windows or GOG/Steam. They're working on the Switch update next, and XBox One and PS4 will happen after that. When will it be released on PC/Switch/etc? The multiplayer update will release on PC on August 1st, but there's no timeline or estimate for the console releases yet. Sometimes it is a pain not wanting to use Windows, but many games are available on Linux, and I've had a 95% success rate getting Windows games to run using Wine, so it isn't a huge handicap. Since the Linux version will likely be out in a day or two, it isn't worth wasting time trying to get it to work on Wine or on the old Windows XP computer.
It also crashes on launch when installed using Wine (.NET is probably the culprit - I tried installing the usual packages using winetricks, but that didn't solve it for some reason).
Even if it did, that computer is probably too slow to run anything less than 10 years old. I tried installing the Windows version on an old computer I have that runs Windows XP, but it won't work there. I was hoping that it would be ready by this evening (when I actually have some time to play the game), but it isn't here yet.
I've noticed this before - GOG is sometimes late to update Linux versions.
